San Fermín 2023

This year Pamplona celebrated the 100th anniversary of Ernest Hemingway's first visit to San Fermin, already a century passed since then, but the spirit and the feelings of Encierros remain the same. Hemingway is for sure an iconic figure here in Pamplona, and this anniversary keeps the memories of the great American writer alive.

Fore more anecdotes, you can read this article from the Hemingway Society.

Now the most memorable Encierros from 2023:

* Fifth Encierro (Núñez del Cuvillo bulls): An exciting and fast run that was cleaner than some of the others, allowing for some great individual runs. These are large bulls that always charge and finish strong, going all the way to the end.It was completed in 2 minutes and 21 seconds.

* Sixth Encierro (Jandilla bulls): This was a very exciting and clean run, providing great opportunities for the runners. There are four black bulls (two bragaos and one mulatto), another dirty jabonero, and another colorao bragao. It was completed in 2 minutes and 23 seconds.

* Seventh Encierro (Victoriano del Río bulls): This was the fastest run of the festival, clocking in at 2 minutes and 18 seconds. It was thrilling and dangerous, with one goring and several other injuries. Victoriano del Río's bulls are pure Domecq stock. They graze on the El Palomar estate, located in the town of Guadalix de la Sierra (Madrid). They are generally black and brown in color.

* Eighth Encierro (Miura bulls): The final encierro of 2023 was a spectacular and speedy run. The Miura bulls were noted for their noble behavior, despite many runners falling. The run was completed in 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

We can't wait for next July 2024!
